Always ON Solis Lite

Device Setup and Basic Troubleshooting

Device Setup

1- Open your package and charge the device

  • Inside the box, a USB-C charging cable is included
  • Plug the USB-C end to the USB-C port (located on the side of hotspot, you should hear a click)
  • Plug the USB end to a USB power source (the USB power source is not included)
  • Once the hotspot is plugged in for charging, the LED bar animation will illuminate inward and outward
  • Charging the hotspot typically takes 30 min to 1 hour depending on the battery life. Once the LED bar is fully white and the white light is static, the charging has been completed.

2- Power on your device

  • Press and hold onto the power button for 5 seconds. The power button is located on the top of your hotspot
  • As the device is booting up, the LED bar and 3 status indicator lights will begin illuminating. LED bar light will illuminate a white color going back and forth.
  • At this stage, the hotspot is attempting to connect to a cellular tower. The 3 indicator lights will flash from color red to white
  • Once the LED bar and 3 indicator lights are a static white color (not flashing), the hotspot is ready to be connected!

3- Connect device to the WiFi Network

  • On the back of the hotspot, you will find the Skyroam network SSID and the password. The Skyroam network SSID begins with “#Skyroam_” and password is 8 digits.
  • When you are ready to connect, go to your phone or computer ‘WiFi settings’ to locate the Skyroam network SSID. If your device cannot detect the Skyroam WiFi SSID, you may need to reset your hotspot by pressing the reset button with a pin on the back of your hotspot.

Device Care and  Best Practices

1- Before Use

  • Fully Charge your Device!
    • Make sure your hotspot is fully charged before using.
    • The Solis hotspot has up to 15-hours of battery life (battery life depends on your usages).
    • When your hotspot is charging, you’ll notice the LED light on the side power button is red.
    • Typically, takes 4-5 hours to fully charge a hotspot at 0% battery life.
    • Test your WiFi plan.
    • Test the WiFi before you use it. You can test the WiFi by connecting your mobile phone to the hotspot and begin browsing.
    • On your phone, you can download the Speedtest App and determine the upload/download speed. Typically, 5mbps allows you to stream videos, web browse, and upload files.

2- Powering On

  • Be in a location with a strong cellular signal!
    • Press and hold onto the power button for 5 seconds to power-on the hotspot.
    • It may take 5 to 10 minutes for the hotspot to fully boot up. As the hotspot is booting up, you’ll notice the LED bar on top of the hotspot is going back and forth.
    • If you’re in a location with weak cellular signal, the boot up process may take greater than 5 minutes as the hotspot is searching for the nearest cellular tower.
  • Look out for LED indicator lights.
    • Once the hotspot is fully booted up, the LED bar on top of the hotspot will be static white.
**PRO TIP: The LED bar light on top of the hotspot is a battery indicator. If full bar, it means 100% battery life.

3- Using the Hotspot

  • Connect to the Skyroam Network.
    • The Skyroam SSID network name and password is located on the back of the hotspot.
    • The Skyroam network name begins with ‘#Skyroam_”. (can be customized)
    • The Skyroam network password is 6 digits long. (can be customized)
  • Finding the Skyroam WiFi network
    • If your device cannot detect the Skyroam WiFi network name, it is likely your device is not compatible with 2.4Ghz WiFi band.
    • You can reset the Skyroam hotspot WiFi band by contacting your admin.
  • Proximity to the hotspot.
    • If possible, make sure the device you’re connecting is less than 15 feet away from the hotspot.
    • The distance between your connected device and hotspot impacts the connectivity.
  • Experiencing slow connection.
    • If the Skyroam data speed is slow, you can reboot your hotspot by powering off/on the hotspot.
    • When you reboot the hotspot, a new virtual SIM (vSIM) will be assigned to the hotspot. Our algorithm detects the local cellular tower we are partnered with and will assign a vSIM automatically.
  • Determining your cellular signal.
    • We recommend using your mobile phone to determine the local cellular signal. if you are in a location with less than 2 bars of cellular signal, your data speed and latency may be impacted.
    • It is ideal to be in a location with more than 3 bars of local cellular signal to ensure your Skyroam experience is optimized.

4- Powering Off

  • When there is a new firmware update.
    • New firmware updates will automatically be downloaded when the hotspot is powered on.
    • When a new firmware is downloaded, the installation process will occur when the hotspot is powered off.
    • During the firmware installation process, the LED lights on top of the hotspot will flash white until the update is completed.
    • Firmware update takes 3-5 minutes to complete.
  • Check the LED lights when powering off!
    • Press and hold onto the power button for 5 seconds to power off the hotspot.
    • When the hotspot is booting down, the LED lights will begin shutting off.
    • Once all LED lights are shut off, it is an indication that the hotspot is fully powered off.

5) After Use

  • Place your hotspot in the travel case.
    • The travel case is built to protect your hotspot.
    • You can place the hotspot and all accessories inside the travel case to keep it organized and safe.
  • Don’t forget to charge your hotspot!
    • As a rule of thumb, it is wise to keep your hotspot fully charged so your connectivity is not interrupted during the next use
