What is virtual SIM technology?

Virtual SIM, also called cloud SIM or vSIM, is the latest improvement in cellular and mobile data technology.

INTRODUCING

Virtual SIM

Clumsy, cumbersome and limiting, SIM cards kept us tied to one carrier and all their restrictions.

Not anymore.

The SIM Card Origin Story

Traditionally, mobile devices required a physical SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) card; a tiny, portable memory chip that stores personal user information. On each memory chip, or SIM card, there’s a seventeen-digit code that designates its country code of origin, the system carrier (such as AT&T or Verizon), and a unique user ID.

If you purchase a cellular plan from a specific carrier, they provide a SIM card that is inserted into the mobile device. If you want to change carriers, or have more options by purchasing plans from multiple carriers, you would have to purchase each plan and SIM card separately. Then, every time you needed to switch carriers for better coverage or speed, you would have to physically change out the SIM card and reset all the device settings and configurations. Clumsy, cumbersome and tedious, physical SIM cards are restrictive and limiting.

The vSIM Difference

Until now, mobile devices may have portable themselves, but they were tethered to a heavy and restrictive leash controlled by the service plan carrier.

Virtual SIM technology can now be embedded within the mobile device, providing freedom and true mobility. vSIM technology allows a mobile device to be used anywhere, since it isn’t limited by the range of one carrier’s cellular tower. Whenever a signal begins to weaken or lack speed, a scan is initiated to locate and lock into a stronger signal from another tower. The SIM card for that carrier is then accessed in the SIM bank at a datacenter, and the device is seamlessly switched to the superior carrier signal.

Automatic, seamless and intelligent, data connections are now available at optimal strength and speed wherever the mobile device goes.

  • Why be limited by ONE carrier’s range, when you could have a virtual SIM that allows you to connect to any carrier’s network?
